‘Godzilla: King of The Monsters’ Trailer

This is the best movie trailer in a very long time

Saved the best for last

So the world is ending and our only hope is Godzilla. 2014’s Godzilla reboot turned a lot of heads, and rightfully so. Everyone loves Godzilla, he’s awesome, he’s big, he’s mean and he’s ready to mess shit up.

Awake from his slumber, it looks like he might even have a tag team buddy in this next instalment. The breathtakingly beautiful Mothra will be fighting side by side with Godzilla. He’s going to need all the help he can get, because Rodan and King Ghidorah are coming and they are going to bring the pain. There’s a deep roster of CGI monsters and not only that a great cast to boot.

The dark, apocalyptic nuance that this trailer brings is stunning to look at. The visuals in this trailer are some of the best I’ve ever seen. The monster aesthetic is a treat to look at. I’m not even sure how the world is going to survive this one.

But a cast of Millie Bobbie Brown, O’Shea Jackson, Kyle Chandler, Vera Fermiga and Charles Dance are looking to come together to stop the world from ending. We have a family dynamic storyline happening, and Ken Wantabe and Sally Hawkins are back. Hopefully with more to do than simply say “let them fight.”

A packed cast full of monsters and actors. Incredible visuals and the king of all monsters, I don’t think this one is going to disappoint.

Oh yeah, King Kong might even show up. So we have that to look forward to.

‘Aquaman’ Looks Stunning

The world will finally now see Aquaman can more than just talk to fish. Also Black Manta for the win.

Everyone. Say hello to Black Manta. The coolest villain not named Joker in the DC universe. Get use to him because he’s going to be around for a long time to come. Just so we are clear. You will learn to love him as much as I do, and you’ll soon understand why he’s one of the biggest badasses in all of comics.

Just needed to get that out of the way first. HOLY SHIT!!! James Wan, just when you thought the DCEU was down and out. Boom Shazam trailer than this breathtaking, underwater spectacle gets dropped in our laps. The world has been waiting for this, it’s finally here and I have water in my eyes. Aquaman truly doesn’t deserve us. Years of insults, and thinking he’s weak. Now the world will know.

Again Geoff Johns reinvented this character in the New 52. Currently rereading his masterpiece and boy this movie looks like his story ripped from the comics. Aquaman, Mera, Orm, Black Manta. All the big players are here and it’s time for Aquaman to take back his throne. Orm played by Patrick Wilson is Aquaman’s half brother and he wants to take the surface by storm. It will be up to Aquaman and Mera to take back Atlantis and make sure all is right in the seven seas.

Star Wars under water? Something along those lines right? It’s just incredible. So happy for everyone involved and more importantly us fans. We never gave up on you DC!

New ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Sequel Trailer

Johnny Depp legit just ruins everything now.

I remember going into the first Fantastic Beasts and being pleasantly surprised. Going back to the world of magic and muggles and all things in-between was incredible. Then towards the end of the movie Colin Farrell’s character morphed into Johnny Depp and well, my jaw hit the floor. Not because I was shocked, not because I was happy, because it flat out ruined the movie. Yeah 90’s Depp was awesome, but now, he’s just Johnny Depp. He’s no longer an actor. Okay, it didn’t ruin the movie completely but I can’t believe they did Colin dirty like that, he was fine in this role and I think he was better suited for the role.

So now we have the upcoming sequel which predominantly features Depp and all I see is Johnny. It’s hard to see him as anything else these days, and I don’t know how I can possibly sit through this movie. It appears to be darker in tone and have way more magic, both great things. Jude Law is playing a younger Dumbledore which seems all too perfect. I can’t wait to go back to this world again, it’s just a shame we have to put up with Johnny Depp in the mean time.

The trailer is pretty fantastic, no pun intended. These new characters especially Newt are a nice additional to an already packed universe. It makes me want venture back to this world again and again. Check it out and see for yourself!

‘Glass’ Trailer Preview

First name Mister, last name Glass

First Unbreakable, then came Split. Now we are getting an end to M. Night Shyamalan’s epic Superhero trilogy. Who knew when Unbreakable first came out, about 20 years ago that it would all lead to this? M. Night has gone on to prove that he’s still got it and could create one of the best Superhero trilogies of all time. Now that the trailer just dropped at SDCC, it appears that Glass is going to be an incredible finish.

Everyone is back, David Dunn (Bruce Willis), Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson) and psycho of the year Kevin Wendell Crumb (James McAvoy). The trailer is a bit mysterious, but Crumb is back to his old ways and has kidnapped some girls for the beast to feast on. David accidentally bumps into one of Kevin’s 24 personalities on the stress, which turns into a race against the clock to save the captured girls. Mr. Glass is also trying to use Kevin to his advantage and cause more problems for David.

Everything about the trailer is spectacular, the cinematography, the visuals, the cast. This is going to be such a wonderful treat, and knowing M. Night we don’t even know the half of what we are going to witness next year. Twists will happen, and with him, always, expect the unexpected. Personally I believe Unbreakable is Samuel L. Jackson’s greatest performance because it’s just so far out of his comfort zone. I can’t wait to see him dive back into this character and see how much he has evolved. M. Night was making gritty, dark and serious superhero movies before it was even cool to do so, Unbreakable doesn’t nearly get the credit it deserves.

‘Thor Ragnarok’ Yes Please

We get a talking Hulk, need I say more?

DFYj0ZUVwAEuTy-.jpg-large.jpeg
(MARVEL)

I know that’s a really big photo, but look how AMAZING that poster is!!! I also find it hilarious that Hulk is the biggest and most obvious thing on a Thor movie poster. Well played Marvel, well played.

I regret not putting this movie on my most anticipated list back in January, because my god it looks b-e-a-utiful. Seriously though, Hulk is talking, and he doesn’t sound that stupid. This is pure awesomeness in every sense of the word. Throughout the years, Hulk has just been getting better looking with every movie, and this is by far the best Hulk to date. He even got a new hair cut, how cute. He wanted to be matching hair cut buddies with his BFF Thor.

Like Chris Hemsworth was literally born to play Thor, and even with his new hairdo, I’m all in on this. The first trailer was really good, and now Marvel drops this bomb on us and they are just getting warmed up tonight. Holy shit, this trailer is good. Thor telling Hulk about his day, is so funny, it reminds me of some 21 Jump Street type banter. So this looks like a buddy cop movie starring Thor and Hulk, like just take my money Marvel, seriously just take it all.

Calling it now, Cate Blanchett will be the first great Marvel villain, since well, Loki. Who also happens to be in this movie, and doing awesome brotherly type things with Thor. But Cate looks badass as Hela, the god of death, and I’m really excited to potentially have a Marvel movie with a fantastic villain in it. The colours in this movie are quite something, my god it’s just full of beautiful colours. Everyone seems to be having a ton of fun, and I honestly don’t know how Marvel keeps pulling it off. Thor has had the worst movies thus far, but they are really going for it this time around, and I think they have a home run on their hands. Even Tessa Thompson, who I loved in Creed, looks like she will fit right in the MCU, and will be a great addition to this franchise. November is going to be an all time stacked month with this and Justice League coming out. I know I’m more excited for Justice League, but I think this might end up being the better of the two movies. Only time will tell!

‘Ready Player One’ Is Vintage Spielberg

If you haven’t read the book, do it now.

landscape-1500750267-ready-player-one-iron-giant
(WARNER BROS.)

Iron Giant check, Freddy Kruger check, the DeLorean check.

Earlier this year, I picked up a little book called Ready Player One. I had heard great things about it, and was told that if you love pop culture, you will absolutely fall in love with this book. It took no more than 4 pages, and boom, a Ghostbusters reference and I was instantly hooked. The book was simply like nothing I had ever read before, and I flew through the book in a matter of days. The best books are the ones that really make you use your imagination in the grandest ways possible, and Ready Player One was the pinnacle of that. When I heard that it was being adapted into a movie and none other than Steven Spielberg himself was directing it, lets just say I was a little more than curious. This has all sorts of Minority Report vibes, one of Spielberg’s greatest achievements to date. This was the perfect man for the job, because he’s a great world builder and that’s exactly what you needed when tackling Ready Player One.

When books you read get adapted into movies, it’s really cool and interesting to see how the directors vision differs from your imagination and how you saw things when reading the book. Spielberg’s vision of the OASIS is interesting and the trailer is beautiful. What he thought the world of OASIS and what I thought it looked like are two vastly different things, but that doesn’t mean anything. Everyones imagination is different, and I’m just excited for this incredible story to be told on the big screen, and by none other than the GOAT of directors. It’s a complicated story and the trailer really doesn’t give you much, it’s a trailer to get people intrigued about the movie and more importantly I feel like it’s some serious fan service. I don’t even really want to say anything about the story (but I will) because it’s truly unique  and I think that if you are a geek, or just so happen to like movies and pop culture references you need to read this book. I know I’ll be reading this book again in the near future, to prep myself for the movie.

Along with a great director the movie has a really stellar cast, Tye Sheridan, T.J Miller, Simon Pegg, and Olivia Cooke are playing our heroes in the movie. With Ben Mendelssohn rounding out the cast playing the bad guy, a role he is all too familiar with these days. Oscar winner Mark Rylance is playing James Halliday, the inventor of the OASIS, the virtual reality environment that everyone goes to in the not so far future. The real short Coles notes for the book. A guy invents a virtual reality in the future, and when he dies, he hides all of his money which is astronomically high inside the game, and everyone is on a mission to be the first person to solves all the riddles and puzzles that will lead to his riches.

‘Justice League’ Looks Promising

Christmas in July, is the best kind of Christmas.

(WARNER BROS.)

You know a trailer is pretty dope, when you have to watch it on your phone a few times and it still tickles your fancy. Been waiting a long time for the newest Justice League trailer to drop, and it didn’t disappoint. Pretty much perfect if you ask me. a

First things first, the past few days, it’s been rumored that my boy the Batfleck is leaving the cape and cowl. He’s got some serious personal problems, so at the end of the day, it’s just a movie and fans should understand if he wanted to step away. But today at San Diego Comic-Con, he nipped those claims in the butt himself and promised fans that he isn’t going anyway. That’s a huge sigh of relief for me anyways. He’s the best part of the DCEU, and it really needs him to stick around.

Back to the trailer, everything about it was really well done. I’m glad they didn’t show too much or ruin any big surprises. Still no Superman, and they haven’t really shown off the villain Steppenwolf either. The less we know going into this movie the better. The Flash is hilarious, the little gag at the end of the trailer about everyone just vanishing was fantastic and it’s so true. He’s got a great sense of comedic timing and will give the DCEU a much-needed comedic boost. Aquaman continues to be a rock-star, he actually came on stage today at SDCC playing his trident like a guitar, so Jason Mamoa remains to be a beauty. Like he surfed on a Parademon, what more do you want from the man.  Even Cyborg looked way better than he did in the first trailer. So hopefully that will shut some people up that were complaining about the CGI months ago.

Happy we got to see Alfred in this. He seems to be playing a vital role in the movie and well I’m going to come out and say this, he’s the best Alfred we’ve ever had. He didn’t nearly have enough screen time in BvS. His Penguin reference was also interesting, that’s two Batman villains the DCEU has teased now, with The Riddler and now The Penguin. Commissioner Gordon appears again, in what seems like his only scene of the movie, but it’s shaping up to be one hell of a scene.

Listen WB has a ton riding on this movie. But it feels and looks so much different than anything that has come before it. I mean that in the best way possible. I think Zack Synder and company really listened to fans and changed up not only the tone of the movie but added in some colour as well. I’m sure we will get one last trailer in the upcoming months, but I’m sold on this movie and I’m sure everyone else is too. Let’s just hope Ben Affleck isn’t pulling a fast one on us because I need the Batfleck in my life.
