‘A Star Is Born’ Trailer

Do not take your significant other to this movie, unless you want a baby.

Like seriously Bradley Cooper? You’re just adding incredible vocal skills to your resume. He sounds like the combination of Jesus and Fergie. Who knew this guy had chops like this? Mix in the fact that he’s going to be directing this, and my god. What a crazy week for movie trailers.

I heard about this, knew very little about the project, I was even skeptical about if in fact he was using his own vocals. Toss in Lady Gaga, who was born to play a role like this and I think we have a pretty big success coming out in October. The next Walk The Line if you ask me. Everything about this looks like Oscar bait, performances, directing and especially song. Dave Chapelle looks to be in rare form here, could snag himself a best supporting role. If this plays out as well as the trailer, Cooper and Gaga could see themselves with nominations as well. Looks emotional as hell, with great acting and I’m sure Cooper will deliver on the directing front.

Probably my favourite trailer of the week.

‘Mortal Engines’ Trailer

We got the biggest bomb of the year folks! This is one steaming pile of hot garbage.

I really do hate being that guy who rips things to shreds. A lot of hard work goes into making any movie. Hundreds of people put a ton of time and energy into each project, but sometimes you just need to tell it like it is. Mortal Engines STINKS, I haven’t seen the movie, but my god that trailer told me everything I need to know.

Two words come across the screen, Peter Jackson and that immediately gets you going. This man is responsible for the Lord of The Rings, turns out he’s not directing, not a good start. They want to suck you in with thinking he’s heavily involved, he’s not. He might have been responsible for getting Hugo Weaving to star. This seems big and bold, something he is known for, but it doesn’t really have any of the Peter Jackson DNA on it, at least in my mind. The concept seems pretty cool, but unfortunately the execution looks just terrible, sad really.

I feel like I have seen this movie a hundred times over the last decade. Some rebellious kid wants to take down some evil organization all on her own. Only for them to be recognized as the symbol of hope. I just can’t do it anymore. This has all the makings to be a massive flop, let me reiterate, this will be a massive flop.

See for yourself.

‘Bumblebee’ Trailer

The Transformers franchise is like that ex that you keep going back to, thinking this time it will be different. This time it actually looks to be different.

The joys of being transported back in time. I remember sitting down to watch the first ever Transformers movie and being blown away at that time. The franchise as gone onto making terrible sequel after sequel. You know, more explosions, terrible plot, awful dialogue and absolutely zero heart. Where did the movie that I watched so many years ago go to?Well it appears that director Travis Knight is bringing us back to the beginning because Bumblebee looks like a ton of fun. The Transformers franchise appears to have had a heart replacement, because this trailer makes me feel something inside. Everyone loves Bumblebee, he’s the reason why I keep giving this franchise my money, so it only makes sense to make him his own solo movie. Set in everyone’s favourite decade, the 80s we are getting B’s origin story and I’m all in. We even get our first look at Starscream, the villain of the movie. Not sure if John Cena was in the trailer, because I have a hard time seeing him. Movie looks great, can’t wait and really hoping for an Optimus Prime cameo. Autobots roll out. ‘Widows’ Trailer

Hold on to your butts. Here’s the best movie of 2018 people.

Steve McQueen is back and he’s not messing around. My lord if that trailer doesn’t get you fired up, well I don’t know what will. This movie has been gaining a to of Oscar buzz already – Viola Davis for best Actress, this looks to be a potential lock for best picture and director as well.

Coming off 12 Years A Slave, McQueen comes out swinging and it appears he has hit a grand slam. ARE YOU SEEING THIS CAST?! I thought the Golden StateWarriors has a stacked roster, my god, I don’t even know where to begin. The premise of wives finishing off what their dead bank robber husbands started is pretty incredible and based off the book by Gillian Flynn, who wrote Gone Girl. This has all the makings to be special. Gone Girl turned out incredibly and I don’t see why this can’t as well.

Check out the trailer and see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.

‘SkyScraper’ Trailer

Dwayne Johnson, you got a metal leg! – Forest Gump voice

The trend of me liking anything with Dwayne Johnson rolls on! The newest trailer for SkyScraper, his version of Die Hard is fast approaching and it looks like a good old cheesy fun time at the movies!

Seriously though, I’m so down for Dwayne just reinventing old classics and putting a new spin on them and churning them out year after year. Like perhaps a Speed remake? Or how about a new spin on Point Break…wait that already happened, I’m sorry i reminded you of that.

So it goes like this, Dwayne has a really bad day working for the FBI, a bomb explodes leaving him without one of his legs. But as he puts it in the trailer, it was the best thing that ever happened to him because it led him to his wife and eventually the birth of his children. So when they are residents of the worlds tallest building, well you know things are going up shit creek real fast. That’s exactly what happens and it’s up to dear old Dwayne to save the day. No this will not be the next Die Hard, but it looks like a fun night at the movies. DJ always delivers with entertainment and he’s a box office goldmine these days. This will attractive an audience and looks to be half decent. Cheesy, yes. But I’m looking forward to DJ killing a whole lot of bad guys in hopefully some pretty unique and awesome ways. Plus it has one of Canada’s national treasures, Neve Campbell!

Overall the trailer is so-so, but I know I’ll see it opening weekend.

‘Mowgli’ Trailer Drops.

We are getting another live action Jungle Book movie, and I’m okay with it.

Everyone needs an origin story these days. Even Mowgli the little guy from The Jungle Book. Yes we are only a few years removed from Disney’s massive success that was the live action adaptation of this beloved child story, but this time Andy Serkis is taking the reigns. I’ll be honest if this was any other person, I would be concerned but the master of motion capture has my attention.

I know it’s tough to follow in the footsteps of the previous incarnation, at the time it was one of Disney’s highest grossing movies, critics and fan rejoice at the home run that Jon Favreau provided us with. So Andy has some pretty shoes to fill. But with him behind the scenes and the all star roster he has put together, this has the makings to be great. It will be so difficult to top the previous one, but this time around they are going dark and really digging into Mowgli’s origin.

They needed a fresh take on the subject matter, perhaps no signing no dance routines, more serious and grounded and that is kind of WBs bread and butter. I’m not going to write this movie off because the trailer didn’t absolutely blow me away, can’t be to critical and harsh on teaser trailers. This has all the makings of being a fun ride at the movies with some serious potential upside.

Take a look for yourself!

‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Trailer Will Rock You

See what I did with that title? Get it? Queen, will rock you….

This whole thing looks amazing and that’s even without Sasha Baron Cohen playing the lead of Freddy Mercury. Oh what could have been. That was a match made in heaven. But in drops Rami Malek, Mr. Robot himself and I have to say, he’s doing a fantastic job.

I’m a big fan of Queen, well who isn’t? So when I heard they were making a feature length film based on Freddy Mercury I was quite intrigued. It kind of sat in production hell, but they ultimately found their Freddy and their director – Dexter Fletcher.

Movies about music or musical icons can be tough to pull off. You really need a rest performance to carry a movie such as this and I think we are going to get one. Rami will be the anchor of the film and a ton of weight will be placed on his shoulders. If people don’t buy into him and his portrayal of Freddy Mercury then the movie will not succeed. From what we see in the trailer I don’t think that will be the case, it seems he has totally bought into this role and immersed himself into the embodiment of Freddy himself.

Plain and simple if they do a great job incorporating Queens music into the film, and it translates well onto the big screen, I think this will be a home run. Check out the trailer below and see for yourself!

‘The Predator’ Trailer Finally Drops

Everyone stay calm. I repeat stay calm. Not all hope is lost. Just a bad trailer is all

Well, when news broke last night that the trailer for Shane Black’s upcoming reinterpretation of The Predator was dropping today, I almost felt like a kid on Christmas Eve. Turns out I was a naughty boy because this felt like a lump of coal in my stocking.

Shane man, what the hell? You know people are expecting big things from this, you were part of the original, Christ even helped write it and this is the trailer you put out? I’m so confused. I don’t know how on Earth he approved this thing. It shows us nothing, it’s just a bunch of quick edits and Jacob Tremblay playing with toys. I can’t believe how underwhelmed I was after watching this trailer, and it doesn’t really get any better on repeat views. The cast is stacked, and they didn’t really even give us a good idea of who or what we are dealing with. Boyd Holbrook looks like he will be able to hold his own in this role. You just need to give us something. 10-15 great seconds to sell general audiences on this movie. Even the whole feel of the movie felt nothing like it’s predecessors. Predator is suppose to be dark, scary and suspenseful. With a little bit of fun sprinkled in here and there. Even the Predator itself is barely shown, I know they are invisible, but I wanted one cool moment from them.

They reshot the last third of this movie, I understand that maybe there’s not a ton of fully completed footage ready yet, but you need to go all out here. You need a ton of buzz for this, early and keep the hits coming. That’s how this becomes a truly successful movie. This just isn’t a great start. I’ll watch anything with a Predator in it, but I’m not the person they are trying to sell this movie on. You need the general audience to want to go and check this thing out. I expected a ton more from the first trailer and I actually expected more from Shane Black himself.

I knew they would go down the road of hybrid’s, I just knew it. I’m kind of disappointed by this. You don’t need to reinvent the Predator, it’s perfect the way it is. We just want to see them hunt people down and kill them in awesome and grotesque ways. Is that so hard to ask?

Anyways here’s the trailer.

Where Does The MCU Go From Here?

We got HEAVY spoilers up ahead. So proceed with caution.

Tony-Stark.jpg

Still here? Okay good! So that photo above means so much more and screams so painfully loud once you have lived through the experience. We had already kind of had our hearts ripped out before this iconic moment, you know with the deaths of Loki and Gamora. But I don’t think ANYONE was prepared for the ending of this movie. I don’t really know where to exactly start, so why not at the beginning? I honestly thought the opening scene rivals the opening scene to the Dark Knight for the best opening scene to a comic book movie ever. The introduction to Thanos just tells us that he is not here for any bullshit, and that’s exactly what Loki is known for. The trickster, the jester, the well dead man. I kind of had a funny feeling that we would finally see the end of Loki at the start of this, but I didn’t think he would go out in such a cruel and awful way. I think we finally got to see the real Loki, the anti-hero Loki in Ragnorok and now I think he’s gone for good. No resurrection, no tricks, Loki is flat out gone from our lives and I think that’s a massive hit to the MCU. But if they want us to believe that there are finally massive stakes at play, then their best bet is to keep him dead. He failed Thanos once, I don’t really think he wanted him around. Here’s the thing. I believe Loki and Gamora’s deaths will be permanent. Everyone else who bit the dust at the end will eventually come back, but deaths that occurred prior to the finger snap might be gone forever. Zoe Saldana is going to be busy as hell filming like 5 Avatar’s in a row and I think making her death remain permanent will only flush out Quills character even more. I also believe she will be the reason Thanos snaps his fingers again and changes what he did and here’s why. Gamora is living inside the soul stone now, they showed that towards the very end of the movie. I think Thanos is RATTLED, and now that she will always be around, like inside his head will drive him insane.

I know it’s crazy to imagine the Guardian’s movies without Gamora but the MCU needs something, a real moment, where there were no jokes, no fun and games. Just real consequences and Gamora’s death should be that moment for the MCU. We all know the 10 people that die in the end scene, I’m not going to name them all, you should know by now, and shame on you if you didn’t weep when Peter was crying to Tony. Now those 10 are 1,000,000 percent coming back I don’t care what any Marvel Executive says about it. Does it make their deaths feel a little bit hollow? I think a little bit, but the original Avengers are left standing. It only makes sense the team that started it all are the ones to defeat or change this outcome for the rest of the universe. That’s why it’s important Loki and Gamora stay dead, or else it will be like this entire movie didn’t matter, and as a fan I will ultimately just feel cheated.

I don’t really know what exactly Marvel has planned for part two of Infinity War. I want to think Thanos will have a change of heart, because even at the end of this movie, while he was sitting on his farm, it seemed he was at peace, but part of me believes me knows he made a big mistake. So I can either see redoing what he has done, or Captain Marvel, who was teased after the credits will get her hands on the gauntlet and do it herself. I don’t really want that to happen. She’s going to be super powerful, we all know that, but she hasn’t even made her debut yet, I don’t want a character who hasn’t been a part of this journey the last 10 years to be the one who finally saves the day. She can come and help out the team, but she better not be the hero at in the end, because I don’t think that’s fair to the rest of our heroes who have lost so much. There are some really powerful people yet to be introduced into the MCU, so Thanos could honestly just be the tip of the iceberg. Josh Brolin said he signed a 2 movie contract, which sucks because Thanos is by far the best thing to happen to the MCU in a long time, and I can’t imagine them getting rid of him after two movies.

I think some of our older heroes will finally say goodbye next installment. It’s funny everyone thought Captain America was going to die during this, I was one of those people. And he was one of the very few left standing. But I don’t see him and Iron Man both making it out alive next time, it seemed Thanos spared them both and he might not be so forgiving next time. It’s the older generation trying to save our younger heroes, the ones that will carry the MCU into the future, it would only make sense that a few of them sacrifice themselves to save others. Iron Man is going to be next level sad after watching Spider-Man die. I hope the next movie takes place moments after this one ends, because I need to see exactly how Tony is going to react knowing that these heroes might not come back. Remember just because we know its a forgone conclusion our heroes will return, the heroes in the movie don’t.

It really has been an incredible journey these last 19 movies, and I think a lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to some of these characters. But all good things must come to an end. Marvel knows what they are doing, and I know next years finale will truly be something to remember, it’s difficult thinking that they could top Infinity War.

So what’s in store for our heroes, we are going to have to wait till May 19th to find out!

‘Robin Hood’ Trailer

Boy oh boy. Kingsmen 3 looks pretty dope.

Seriously though, doesn’t it kind of feel like the Kingsmen have just been transported back in time and now Eggsy is trading in his guns and gadgets for a bow and arrow. All kidding aside this look pretty cool, simply because it looks to have that Kingsmen vibe to it.

We’ve gotten a ton of Robin Hood movies throughout my lifetime, but this looks and feels different than any previous incarnation we have seen before.

Brass tax, this just looks like a fun popcorn movie and I like everyone involved here. Jamie Foxx who is playing a sort of Yoda role and the baddest man on Earth Ben Mendelsohn playing another villain yet again. If he keeps this up I think people will just assume he is an asshole in real life. But we need it to keep happening because he plays such a fantastic bad guy. Also the guy directing Otto Bathurst is the man behind Peaky Blinders so that is a terrific sign. Overall I’m intrigued and kind of excited for Robin Hood, Taron Egerton is my dude. Also the guy from 50 Shades is in this movie so yeah……
