Final ‘Solo’ Trailer Is Here

I will watch anything with Donald Glover in it.

During an adventure into a dark criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his future copilot Chewbacca and encounters Lando Calrissian years before joining the Rebellion.”

Kind of forgot this movie was coming out to be perfectly honest. It’s weird that Disney wouldn’t really be promoting you know, a Star Wars movie. But here we are just a month away from Han Solo’s very own movie.

It’s more of the same this final trailer. I don’t really know what to make of it. I know I’ll get there opening weekend, but with potential problems behind the scenes and a serious lack of marketing, something tells me this might not live up to expectations. One thing is for sure, Donald Glover seems to be killing it as Lando, so we know going in that it at least has that going for it. It just seems like a lot like Rogue One, a mission that will ultimately go to shit, and Han Solo will become who we first meet in a New Hope because of it. I’m still on the fence about someone else portraying this iconic character, but only time will tell. The cast is so great, I just hope the movie turns out okay.

Anyways here the final trailer for Solo. What do you think?

‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Trailer

Seriously, why on Earth would Han Solo being wearing a fur jacket? His best friend is a giant furry beast……

“During an adventure into a dark criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his future copilot Chewbacca and encounters Lando Calrissian years before joining the Rebellion.”

Okay, so maybe Han is into the fur coat game until he meets his future best friend and copilot Chewbacca and ditches that look completely. I don’t know? I’m sure we will get those answers in the movie. Another question is, is it Childish Landbino or Landoish Gambio? Can’t decide right at this moment, but thanks to Donald Glover, I’m fully on board with this.

Obviously going into Solo it will be extremely difficult to see anyone else play the iconic character that is Han Solo. I think no one should be playing this character but Disney needs some money. This is Harrison Ford’s character and his character alone in my mind, but I will say that Alden Ehrenreich doesn’t look to shabby. Han Solo is such a famous and iconic character that anyone else trying to play him is just not a good idea. Now I don’t know if Alden will be trying to imitate Harrison or if he will give Han Solo is very own treatment. I think meeting in the middle would be the best way to go.

Woody Harrelson, Paul Bettany, Emilia Clarke, Thandle Newton and Donald Glover. Now that is a stacked cast. This is one aspect of the film that I’m not worried about. It’s a well rounded, diverse cast. What I’m worried about is the directors getting fired, massive reshoots, apparently Alden needing acting lessons, and all around mess that went into making this movie. The trailer looks great, visually its stunning, it’s weird to see the Millennium Falcon looking crisp, clean and brand new. It has that throw back Star Wars look to it, which I found to be great. I say I’m worried about all of these things because the movie is slated for a May release and we are just getting our first look at it now. It’s common practice to release your first trailer for a massive summer blockbuster somewhere between 5-6 months out of its release. So that has a me a little skeptical.

Everyone is here for Donald Glover, he’s going to steal the show. There’s very few things that he can’t do in his life. He’s going to bring some much needed coolness to this movie, because Han kind of comes off as a dweeb in this trailer.

‘The Last Jedi’ Review/Thoughts

Team Kylo Ren. That is all.

lastjedi3.jpg
(DISNEY)

As they say, the force is strong with this one. The Last Jedi is finally here! The latest StarWars epic has finally arrived and well, people are divided. It’s the longest film in the series to date, and is chalked full of epic moments and twists and turns. I saw this Thursday night, but wanted to wait a few days before writing my review, because for movies such as these I wanted it to sink in and marinate a little bit. I loved this movie, I think over time it may very well be regarded as the greatest Star Wars ever made. The Internet and fans alike might not agree with that statement. Going into The Last Jedi, there was a ton of speculation about certain things, who Rey’s parents would be? Who was Snoke? What happened between Luke and Kylo Ren? All of these questions are answered in some way shape or form. I think that people were thinking one thing was going to happen and got another, and what they WANTED to happen, didn’t. So they thought the movie was “bad” because they didn’t get what they wanted. I think that is a huge problem with Star Wars fans, because you’re not always going to get what you want, but that doesn’t mean that thing is bad. I won’t spoil anything that happens in this movie, because that would be unfair, I will tread lightly around certain situations and characters.

First things first Rian Johnson (director) has gone out and made a thematically rich, emotionally nuanced and narratively subversive blockbuster movie. Most big budget movies often lack substance; good story telling and mainly rely on explosions and CGI. People think this is so far from what we have become accustomed to when it comes to StarWars, that they feel Rian Johnson has some what destroyed this franchise, well he reinvented it. He takes such bold risks and tells such a rich story, it’s really impressive on what he accomplished. There is a ton of pressure that comes with helming something that so many people hold so close and dear to their hearts. I think he did as good of job than anyone could have asked of him. The new droids, planets, landscapes and the entire aesthetic of The Last Jedi simply build on what JJ Abrams was able to accomplish in The Force Awakens. Crait a planet where the last battle takes place. The white and red minerals, the red salt standing out so clearly during the battle, is one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen in a Star Wars movie. The cinematography was just incredible. Throughout the entire movie itself, there are tons of artistic shots, that will make great one shot pieces, and images that will stand out in fans minds until the end of time. The whole movie deals with failures, and overcoming the failures. What happens to us when we fail, how do we respond? Almost everyone in this movie sets out on a certain goal or task and in the end, ultimately fails at the very thing they set out to do. We learn later in the movie, that failure is okay, it’s a part of life and it’s a part of growing as a person. People fail all the time, failure makes us stronger, makes us smarter. It was something I didn’t pick up on until after the movie, but failure is such a big part of this story. There is one thing that happens towards the end of the movie, you think the movie is about to take a MASSIVE risk, and they bail last second on it. The cop out, the way they get out of it, is so utterly insane, that I wonder how they felt this was a good idea. I wish I could talk about it more, but it involves Finn and Rose, and it was without a doubt the worst part, and one of the stupidest things I’ve seen in a movie in a long time. Especially with the timing of this event, it was just a real head scratcher.

This is a StarWars movie through and through. I mentioned it taking bold risks and trying to expand on this forever-growing universe, and it opens the doors to so many possibilities with the final installment, which we will receive in two years. From the opening music, before the always-epic scrawl, the opening shot of outer space, the light sabre fights, and just classic Star Wars moments. The story is pretty simple, Rey (Daisy Ridley) searches out Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) to get her proper training, Finn (John Bodega) meets a new girl Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) and they are trying to find Rey and lead her far away from the First Order. Poe (Oscar Issac) is struggling with becoming a leader, and the leader that the Resistance needs. While Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) is just trying to keep the remaining resistance fighters calm and well, safe. Meanwhile Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) is trying to figure out where he belongs in this world, and what he really wants. The cast is fantastic, this is the best Mark Hamill performance we have ever gotten, and it can be said with Carrie Fisher. They both shine, and always steal the scene they are in. With the passing of Carrie this past year, it was only fitting that we got to see her at her best in this movie, and you could tell she really gave it her all. As for everyone’s favorite Jedi, Luke Skywalker, this is what people are torn on. I get and I understand the direction they took Luke in this movie. I’ll just leave it at that, because anything more would enter spoiler territory.

For me, this whole movie was all about Kylo Ren, who is built like a brick shit house I might add. Adam Driver gives one hell of a performance in this movie. Movies these days, well they lack great villains. Who was the villain in Doctor Strange, or Justice League that just came out? How about Spider-Man Homecoming? Kylo Ren is for me, is the best villain since Heath Ledgers Joker. From the actual character to the performance of the actor playing that character. You feel for this guy, Kylo is conflicted, he wants to be bad, but part of him is good. This is evident in one particular moment in the first act of the movie. He wants nothing more than to impress Snoke, who openly mocks him about his helmet, which is destroys in a fit of rage after being criticized by Snoke. After TheForce Awakens came out, everyone thought of Kylo as a spoiled little brat, an Emo kind of villain, where unlike his dear old Grand Father, Darth Vader, where Storm troopers would fear him. They kind of just don’t want to be around Kylo, because he is well a brat. You see the pain in his eyes, the conflict on who he wants to become. When you start to learn about his past, and what he has gone through, you start to feel for his character. He is so full of rage and hate, and once he throws his helmet away, you can see that on his face for the rest of the movie. He wants Rey to join him, he wants the pair of them to rule the galaxy together, he has a soft spot for Rey, and feels like he can open up and share his thoughts and feelings with her. I just think Kylo is a very compelling and complex villain, one who will stand out for many years to come, it helps that Driver gives such a fantastic performance. It also helps that he’s part of probably the best scene in StarWars history. I can’t wait to see where they take his character and what’s in store for him, in the final chapter. Because his story isn’t finished, he is “unfinished evil,” where I think we have only seen the tip of the evil iceberg for Kylo Ren, which spells trouble for Rey and the resistance.

People are having a really hard time letting go of the past. Even Kylo Ren has a line of dialogue in the movie. “Let the past die,” he says. “Kill it, if you have to. That’s the only way to become what you were meant to be.” That bears true in the movie, and in real life. These new movies are moving in a new direction, moving away from the past (Luke, Leia, Han Solo) and moving forward with our new heroes and villains. People are having a hard time doing so, especially those who have been with this franchise since 1977. They want to remember and hang onto this epic and wonderful characters for as long as possible, and now that the end is in sight for most of them, people are having a difficult time letting go. In order for something new to grow, usually something old must die, these new movies was about telling a new adventure with new characters, and not about the ones we grew up with, and everyone should be okay with that. Luke Skywalker was not meant to be the main character and center of attention of this new trilogy. It’s the second biggest opening weekend of all time, 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. But here is why the Internet is divided; the audience score is sitting at 56%. I think that has a lot to do with what I mentioned earlier and people not getting what they wanted. This is not a bad movie; hell it’s an incredible movie going experience. It’s beautiful; the score is epic, great performances all around. People are upset certain things didn’t go their way; I think they need to get over that and give this movie another watch.

Overall, this has one of the best space battles ever, in my opinion the best light sabre fight scenes, and the best performances given in any Star Wars movie. It builds on already so much rich history, it’s such a great story, with some flaws, but with a movie this big in scale, that will happen. It’s full of incredible moments, breath taking visuals and a lot of laughs. I found myself a little emotional during certain moments; you really get caught up in it all. That’s what you want when you’re sitting in the theatre. This is a really great epic Star Wars movie that shouldn’t be missed. Give it time, fans will come back around to seeing this as a great movie, they are just salty right now.

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ – That Is All

Are you fucking kidding me – I’m sorry for cursing.

starwars-thelastjedi-bts-sizzlereel-finn-rey-dancing-snowjpg.jpeg
(Disney)

Just when you thought the hype for this movie couldn’t be any bigger, they go ahead and drop this trailer on us. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This trailer is about to break some records and the internet I would imagine, because it’s damn near perfect. Yeah, I’m sure there will be Star Wars hardos out there that think they spoiled a few things, but remember to never really take anything you see in a trailer in full context. They are really good at editing these things to make you believe something that probably won’t happen.

But that trailer was the real deal, Rian Johnson, I believe you are on your way to making the best Star Wars movie ever. This looks absolutely stunning, some of the visuals are just gorgeous. After seeing Blade Runner 2049 this past week, I’m not going to lie, that I kind of felt the same way for some of the visuals in this trailer than I did for Blade Runner. There is a ton to process in this thing, they are hinting at a TON of things to come, without really revealing how those things are actually going to happen. Luke appears to be afraid of Rey almost because she is so powerful, so powerful that I have a feeling she might be hiding something or will potentially be the person who kills Luke. Again not to overlook the trailer, but it seemed like Rey and Kylo might team up or at least have a common goal/enemy at the end of this trailer. Is Rey turning bad? Towards the end of the trailer we see her under duress, with Snoke taking control of her. Maybe he gets her to join the dark side, or taps into her powers and is able to control or something. Andy Serkis is menacing as hell voicing that guy, I was really digging his voiceover at the beginning of the trailer. Is Kylo turning good, because they allude to him blowing up a ship with his mother Leia inside of it. Does killing his Mom finally push him over the edge and he can no longer be part of the dark side? Something isn’t quite as it seems with those two and obviously some of our questions will be answered in no time. I just thought it was really cool how Luke wanted no part of Rey after he learns just how powerful she can be.

Finn is back, get it, back? Never mind, all I know is, I want to see throw down with Captain Phasma real bad. Seeing how she was a mere joke in The Force Awakens, I’m glad she will finally be doing some heavy lifting this time around, and going toe-to-toe with Finn. She seems like a pretty awesome character so I hope we really get to see more of her this time around, and just isn’t background noise. The battle that looks to be taking place in a really open giant landscape, will probably be the best part of the movie, every time I see that red mist stuff, I’m just blown away but how beautiful it looks.

Overall I thought this was the best or one of the best movie trailer of 2017, DO NOT put out any more trailers, we do not need them. This was far more than we actually needed, but I’m glad I watched it. There are crazy people out there that won’t watch this, and I could not do that, nor do I think it’s a good idea. They didn’t spoil anything really, because like I said, we don’t know the context of anything in the movie yet, because we haven’t seen the movie yet. So chill out, watch it 100 times like I will, and December 15th can’t get here fast enough

Eh JJ, He’s Back for Star Wars: Episode IX

JJ Abrams is back in the directors chair, and I frankly do not care. Have you tried watching The Force Awakens again? It’s not very good.

So here’s the thing, this is nothing personal against JJ Abrams, I happen to like a lot of his movies, but overall The Force Awakens just wasn’t that great. The word “meh” can best describe that movie going experience. Yeah, I’m happy Star Wars is back in our lives, but at the same time, I’ve come to the realization that Star Wars is vastly overrated. Seriously take the Light Sabre out of it, and what is it exactly?. They make it cool, because let’s be honest here they are one of the coolest things ever invented in the film industry. So I’ll give it that and also Darth Vader, that guy is pretty, pretty, pretty neat.

I’m just not sold on this news, because I think they should have gotten someone different, with a different style to end the trilogy. We have the up coming Episode IIX which I guess I’m a little bit excited for, they haven’t shown to much, but Rian Johnson is behind the project and that guy made Looper, so I’ll watch anything he does.

I can’t figure out why I’m not pumped about Star Wars, maybe it’s the fatigue of all these franchises, or the fact that after the first viewing of The Force Awakens, I couldn’t get through it a second time. So I’m a little bit skeptical about this. Also Rogue One just wasn’t great, besides the wicked 30 seconds we got with Vader at the end. I don’t know, I don’t know why Disney went back to the same drinking well to end this trilogy, maybe they know JJ is a yes man and will make the movie they want. That’s probably it, only time will tell I guess.

You’re Not Cool, Unless You Go To D23 I Guess

(MARVEL)

Some quick thoughts on D23

So this past weekend Disney hosted their annual D23 event in Anaheim and apparently it was the bee’s knees. With footage from a ton of upcoming stuff, like Jon Favreau’s Lion King, Avengers; Infinity War, Mary Poppins and some behind the scenes stuff for the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

One thing quickly crosses my mind when thinking about all this. It’s great that Disney has this monster event every year, but I think it’s cruel and unusual punishment to us normal folk who simply can’t make it to this thing. Twitter was literally on fire yesterday from everyone tweeting about all the incredible footage that was being tossed around, and fans are even going stir crazy for Marvel to release the Infinity War footage. I think that Disney should considering expanding this thing to the masses. Why not have a streaming service going, where maybe it costs a pretty penny to watch, but what they should already know is that people will pay for almost anything Marvel/Disney related. I get that it’s suppose to be special to be at the event in person, but we live in a world now where either these things will just get leaked or you will cause an uproar when only a hand few of people get to see your product.

So will someone please leak that Avengers trailer, would really be beneficial for all of us. That shot of all the Avengers cast sitting watching the trailer, is actually pretty damn cool. Oh, and apparently Lion King looks like a masterpiece, which doesn’t surprise me at all, cannot wait for Lionish Gambino.

Lets Talk About That Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer

I really don’t think Luke is getting off that island.

gallery-1455548341-star-wars-episode-8.png

Star Wars trailers are always the best trailers am I right?! Episode 8 is dropping this Christmas and everyones favourite lightsaber Jedi is back. Obviously this was a teaser so not much is shown and zero plot is explained. We know for a fact that we got some Yoda stuff going on here, with Luke training Rey, to make her become the most powerful Jedi perhaps? So strong that she could be the one to end all Jedi’s, I don’t know but the little dialogue we did get in this trailer indicates that Luke wants the Jedi to end for some reason.

Maybe he feels that he is turning to the dark side, and that no matter how powerful you are, you always end up taking a trip on the dark side, and he can’t have that happening anymore. This to me, will probably be the last movie with get to see our beloved Luke Skywalker in, just a vibe I got from watching the trailer, who knows though!

We get to see small tidbits of other characters here, Leia, Poe, Finn and everyones favourite brat Kylo Ren. I actually really like Kylo Ren, but does he bitch an awful lot, really hoping for a Luke vs. Kylo Ren showdown. The thing about these trailers is, they show such small little quick glances at things that it makes you wonder what it all means, and now I just want it to be December so we can all go see this movie! I’ll say one thing, those ships with the red mist coming out from them looked really cool. That was just so beautiful and was my favourite part of the trailer, curious to learn more about those things.

This trailer did what teasers should do, it will get people talking about Star Wars and make Youtube crash for a little bit. It was a great first trailer and honestly Disney you don’t need to show us anything else, we are all sold on it, just don’t do what most movies do nowadays and ruin the movie with 5 different trailers. But fun fact, Tom Hardy is going to be a Storm Trooper in this, and that is simply amazing.

Most Anticipated Movies of 2017

Goodbye 2016, hello 2017! At last the year from hell is over! 2016 in many people’s eyes will go down to be an all timer, in the worst way possible. For popular culture junkies like myself I will never forget it. We saw so many influential people leave us, and movies disappoint us (I’m looking at you Batman V. Superman) that when the clock struck 12 on December 31st, we all rejoiced that it was officially the start of a new year. That being said it wasn’t all-bad in 2016; if you’re reading this, you probably love movies as much as I do. Movies are a great way to escape for a few short hours and be reminded just how extraordinary something can truly be. While there were many disappointments in 2016, I’d just like to thank certain films such as; La La Land, Moonlight, Arrival and Nocturnal Animals for restoring my faith in Hollywood, after what was a lackluster summer to say the least. That’s all behind us now, and I’d like to share the ten films I’m most anticipated to see in the year 2017!

10 Stephen Kings IT director/ Andres Muschietti

Beep beep Richie! Are words that haunted me as a young child. The 1990 made for TV movie adaptation of Stephen Kings famous novel brought the terrifying Pennywise the clown to life. Personally I think the original still stands up today, and I’ve come to appreciate it more as I’ve grown older. Andres Muschietti is coming off a stellar directorial debut with Mama, and hopes Bill Skarsgard who’s playing the infamous clown will bring the same magic as Tim Curry did in the 1990 version. I’m not usually one for horror movies, as I believe they have shifted in a weird direction, but there’s just something about this movie that feels right. Boasting a great young cast especially Finn Wolfhard (Mike from Stranger Things) and Jaeden Lieberher (Midnight Special) makes this seem even more promising. I’ll admit that I was a little turned off from the photos of Pennywise so far, but I can’t let a few pictures determined how excited I am to finally see this movie on the big screen. My goal for this movie is for it to be successful enough that we get the adult sequel and that I don’t regret putting it on my list.

9 Power Rangers director/Dean Israelite

Nostalgia, Nostalgia, Nostalgia. Don’t judge me on this one; the original had a lot of my firsts. First toy I can remember, and certainly my first crush (thank you Kimberly). When I first heard they were remaking the Power Rangers into a feature film I didn’t think much of it. The 90’s TV show can be summarized as a poppy, cheesy afterschool kids show. So it was hard to fathom how they were going to translate that onto the big screen. Lionsgate have really flipped Power Rangers a complete 180 degrees, with it looking very dark and gritty from everything we seen thus far. For some, this is the biggest criticism of the movie, but I think it’s the perfect direction to take this franchise. The trailer gives off a very breakfast club meets Chronicle vibe and I’ve been intrigued ever since. The folks behind the new movie have been rolling out promotional images of the movie here and there and the new look Alpha 5, Zords and even the rangers who are looking a little too Iron Man-ish have me thinking that they are taking Power Rangers in a whole new direction. The biggest surprise for me would have to be the casting of Bryan Cranston as the giant floating head Zordon. Why on Earth would he choose to be in this movie? Does it make me believe there’s a chance this movie could be good, well maybe but sometimes actors just need a payday. The thing I’m most excited about is without question is Elizabeth Banks playing the villain Rita Repulsa. At least from the trailer and all the images we have seen it looks like she’s all in on this role and I couldn’t be happier about it. This has all the makings of being a horrible crapfest, but that’s not the point of the list. I’m excited to see what this movie could be, and I’m even more excited to see just how bad this movie could truly be. IT’S MORPHIN TIME!!

8 War for the Planet of the Apes director/Matt Reeves

“The irony is we created you. And nature has been punishing us ever since”.

First it was just apes, then apes on horses and now you’re telling me apes on tanks?????! The apes are back baby, and this time it means war! This movie is going to be bittersweet for a lot of us, seeing how it will certainly be the last time we get to watch the great Andy Serkis do his thing as Caesar. This franchise has done so much for motion capture performances; it’s taken them to a whole other level. The first Apes was a great movie, the second was extraordinary and this could be the cherry on top of the trilogy sundae. This has all the makings to be a great trilogy, maybe even one of the best ever. Matt Reeves is back in the directors’ chair for the second time for this franchise and this time around he’s bringing Woody Harrelson. Who looks menacing as hell as the villain along for the ride. I loved what I saw in the first trailer and visually these movies just keep getting better and better. The apes look breathtaking and I just can’t say enough about what Andy Serkis has accomplished for the motion capture industry. These movies have done wonders for the lure of the planet of the apes, and with some rumors that this final installment might have some ties into the original movie it intrigues me even more. I’m going to miss Caesar and I hope this movie will be the sendoff he deserves. Side note: I really hope they bring back Koba, that guy was awesome!

7 Kingsman: The Golden Circle director/Matthew Vaughn

I remember back in 2014 walking into Kingsman and not thinking too much about it. I heard it was a fun time at the movies and was based on a graphic novel, so I said to hell with it and gave it a shot. As soon as the opening credits hit and Money for Nothing, Chicks for Free by Dire Straights came on, I knew then in my heart I was going to love this movie. Kingsman was fun, full of incredible action (YouTube the church scene and you can thank me later) and it didn’t take itself to seriously. I love being surprised by movies when they go beyond your expectations; it’s just a really great feeling to have when walking out of the theatre. Now 3 years later, here comes Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and I couldn’t leave it off my list. Matthew Vaughn is returning and he’s on a little bit of a role with, Kick-Ass, X-Men First Class and Kingsman respectfully. The entire cast is back but you’re telling me Julianne Moore, Jeff Bridges, Halle Berry and Channing Tatum are being added?! This only wets my beak even more. Not a whole lot of information is known about the plot or whom the new cast members are playing, with things being very tight-lipped around the project. What I expect from this sequel is more of the same, great laughs, really good action and most importantly a great story and awesome new characters being thrown into the mix. This has serious potential to be one of my favorite films of 2017!

6 Dunkirk director/Christopher Nolan

In the latest Christopher Nolan movie, he will be heading to World War 2 to tackle the historic battle of Dunkirk. Lets face it, when Nolan steps up to the plate it’s an event at the movies. He’s a filmmaker through and through and what you are watching is a spectacle you have to go see to believe. Whether it was the Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception or his latest film Interstellar the man knows how to make a movie. If you know history, well you know Dunkirk does not end well (spoilers) so I’m curious to see how Nolan is going to pull this one off. We got a great war movie in 2016 with Hacksaw Ridge, but Dunkirk will be packing a little more of an emotional punch, seeing how brutal and violent that battle was. There’s just not much more to say about this movie, visually it will be stunning, tremendous acting and it’s going to be an emotional time at the movies. In the end it’s Christopher Nolan doing a war epic, I’ll be there opening night.

5 Alien: Covenant director/ Ridley Scott

In space no one can hear you scream, but they might have heard me yelling in the theatre as I sat and watched Prometheus. What was there not to be excited about, it was Ridley freakin Scott back directing an Alien movie, and boy did it not sit well with me.

The poster alone got me excited for this movie, because as a huge alien fan, it told me everything I needed to know about this movie. I think it was the best movie poster of 2016. Then early Christmas morning FOX decided to drop the trailer for the next installment in this franchise and OMG this movie is going to be bananas. It’s everything I wanted Prometheus to be, it looks like Ridley Scott is taking it back to what made Alien so successful, suspense, gore, horror and most important of all ALIENS. The trailer is so well put together that I don’t need to see anything else to know that I’m going to enjoy the crap out of this movie. I want to be on the edge of my seat when watching an Alien movie. I want to be a little scared and this looks like it’s going to fulfill those needs. The cast alone is just out off the charts with talent, but the person who I think is going to steal the show is none other than Kenny Powers himself Danny McBride. Actually James Franco is in this too, so maybe this is just some crazy high and it’s somehow a Pineapple Express sequel, there’s only one way to find out. Fun fact, Terry Hall from The Mighty Ducks is in this, I honestly thought he made one movie in his life. Who knew?

4 Logan director/James Mangold

First off, props to Ryan Reynolds for leaking that Deadpool footage, because without doing so Deadpool is never made and without Deadpool the world wouldn’t be getting a rated R Wolverine movie. This isn’t your grandmas Wolverine here folks; it’s a whole new ballgame. This will be the most brutal, violent Wolverine yet, something we really haven’t seen since the mansion scene in X2. If watching that trailer synced to Johnny Cash’s Hurt didn’t get you fired up for this movie then something is wrong with you and you should see a doctor immediately. The trailer gave me all the feels, and made me realize just how much I’m going to miss Hugh Jackman playing this role. This trailer really knocked me on my ass, and it’s something as a Wolverine fan I’ve always wanted to see. This is it for Hugh Jackman as the beloved character, it’s his kitchen sink performance you could say, he’s going to be throwing everything he’s got at this one, and for some it’s going to be an emotional ride. He’s been playing this character for almost 20 years now (that’s insane), and this movie is going to be is swan song. I’m excited to see where this movie takes the X-men lure, and how it’s all going to play out in the end. Based loosely off the Old Man Logan story from the comics, this movie finds Wolverine teaming up with Professor X one last time to save a young mutant much like Wolverine from falling into the wrong hands. One thing that intrigues me about this movie is the Professor X story line part, part of me thinks he will just be in Wolverines mind the entire time, and I can’t wait to find out if I’m right or not.

3 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol: 2 director/James Gunn

“Showtime A-holes”

The gang is back! Marvel’s misfits are returning after the 2014 smash hit that up until this years Civil War I considered to be the best all around Marvel movie. This time around Star Lord is finally getting over his daddy issues and is in search to hunt down the man. Fully loaded with another awesome mix tape, the whole gang is returning but this time we are getting the ever so cute Baby Groot!. James Gunn is back directing (duhhhh) and he cares so much about these characters and franchise that I don’t think anyone else could direct this movie. The trailer alone sold me on this movie, it looks tailor-made for me, and with Chris Pratt promising this would be the biggest most epic scale movie we’ve ever seen on the big screen. I can only hope they follow through on that promise. The humor seems to be back, and the dynamic between the Guardians is something that’s almost rare in movies these days. It’s a massive science fiction, fantasy blockbuster that just feels right. Everything from the trailer looks like it’s popped right off the pages of a comic book and it just looks fantastic. I only have one concern about this movie, and it’s a little thing but I just don’t want them shoving Baby Groot down our throats for the entire movie.

2 Star Wars: Episode VIII director/Rian Johson

The force will be strong with this movie. The Force Awakens did a great job bringing back Star Wars into our lives, all the beloved characters that people hold so dear in their hearts. It was the perfect way to set up this new universe with all the new characters and immersing them with the old. Everyone knows that this movie will be pulling on heartstrings whenever Carrie Fisher graces the screen, regardless of how much she will be in the movie. The Force Awakens did exactly what Disney and JJ Abrams wanted it to do, and that was get everyone excited again about Star Wars. Now the real fun can begin with Episode VIII, and this movie is going to take Star Wars in a new direction, one that people really haven’t seen before. People are going to want this movie to be the Empire Strikes Back of the new trilogy, for me I just want it to be something new and fresh. Let Rian Johnson take this franchise to places it’s never been before and do things we aren’t accustom too when it comes to the Star Wars universe. The director Rian Johnson knows how to make a great science fiction movie, Looper was such a unique and original story that I don’t think I would be as excited for this if he wasn’t sitting in the directors chair. Obviously everything is very hush-hush about this movie, but one thing is for certain and that is the return of Luke Skywalker, and I’m pumped to see Mark Hamill back on the screen playing the role that made him famous. I’m curious to know where they will take his character and ultimately just who has Luke become.

1 Justice League director/Zack Snyder

OHHHHHH BABY!!!! Here we go folks; it really is due or die time for WB and the DCEU. Just like Eminem said, “if you had one shot, one opportunity, to seize everything you ever wanted. In one moment, would you capture it,
or just let it slip”?
If I were to say no other DCEU movie had come out, and this picture of the Justice League was released and this was the first thing we ever got to see from WB, people would lose their minds. That’s not the case, we have gotten three stinkers in a row now and time is running out for them to turn this ship around. There is so much riding on the success of this movie, and I’m just not talking about financial success here people. Lets try to get a DCEU movie fresh on rotten tomatoes shall we! After the disaster that was Batman V. Superman, it being so dark and gloomy, humorless and all around just a downer movie, I pray that Zack Snyder has listen to his critics and changed his ways. Saying all that, we can all agree that Batfleck crushed it as the Caped Crusader. Now they are introducing the Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg into the mix and from the trailer it at least looks like they are on the right path. I just can’t be walking into Justice League a super confident person, because I have seen the three previous DCEU movies and I just don’t know which Zack Snyder will be stepping up to bat (pun attended). The Justice League is the greatest superhero team up of all time, and we are finally going to get to see that on the big screen, something some people have been waiting to see their whole lives. A nice change in tone, shifting away from the gloominess of BvS will do wonders for this movie. People need to care about these characters, and want to see more of them when they are done watching Justice League, and have people talking about whether they will be more excited for the next DC or Marvel movie. For the love of god please don’t screw this up Zack Snyder that’s all I ask of you, sincerely the entire world.

Well there you have it, my most anticipated movies of 2017. I have a feeling 2017 is going to be a tremendous year for movies. If I did this list for 2016 all of my favorite movies from the year wouldn’t have even made the list and that’s what I love so much about movies. You just never know what you are going to love and which ones you are going to hate until you see them.

Check ya later.
